Steve Philo
Coach Philo, originally from South Glens Falls, NY, has been a coach with Empire City Soccer Academy since 2019. During this time he has been coaching the U-19 Girls team. Prior to joining Empire City Academy, Coach Philo served as a U14, U16 and U17 coach for the Adirondack Lynx Girls Academy from 2014-2016. He is also the current South Glens Falls Varsity Girls coach, a position he has held since 2007.
Coach Philo’s South Glens Falls teams have had great success during his tenure. They have won the Foothills Council in the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2018 seasons. His teams have also made two sectional final appearances in 2009 and 2011, and six semi-final appearances in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Moreover, Coach Philo has been named Foothills Council Coach of the Year in 2009, 2010, 2018. He has also been Section II, Class A Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011. In addition, Coach Philo serves as the Foothills Council League Rep., and a member of the Section II Girls Soccer Committee, both since 2009. Coach Philo’s program has produced several collegiate players at the D-I, D-II and D-III levels for schools such as Long Island University, LeMoyne, Saint Anselm, Saint Rose, Roberts Wesleyan, Clarkson, Union, Hartwick College and SUNY Plattsburgh among many others.
Coach Philo holds his NSCAA Goalkeeping Level III Diploma and Level 5 Diploma.
Coach Philo currently resides in South Glens Falls with his wife, MaKenzie, and their dog, Bodhi. He is currently an 8th grade ELA teacher in the South Glens Falls Central School District.
